In this the season of Advent and the official start of the church calendar, we finally take a look back at the year that has come to pass. It has been the mark this St. Paul’s Ivy family has left on me. Whether serving as crucifer or as the student representative on the Vestry, I have learned so much from participating. I have a greater appreciation for church budgets and repairs, our pivotal role as a church community in the greater Charlottesville community with our outreach, and how important every member is to this congregation. We are a small but mighty parish and can do great things when working together and combining our talents and energies. The throngs of children participating in the Christmas pageant next week will be one of the highlights of the season, but it will also be a reminder that all ages can participate, all ages can be involved, and all ages can play an important part in this special place.
