EfM
Education for Ministry is a four year, in-depth program that meets through the school year. The program of study covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology. You will find that EfM teaches you how to think theologically, deepens your faith and your understanding of our Christian heritage, and provides you with a new confidence to be Christ’s minister.
EfM is administered through the Continuing Education Department of the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee).
Our EfM classes at St. Paul’s, Ivy are offered on Monday nights from 7:00-9:30 p.m. and on Tuesday mornings from 9:15-11:45 a.m. We begin this journey in the fall and each group meets once a week through May. Groups may range in size from 6 to 12 members, and we welcome members from other denominations. Mentors attend training and are required to update the training every 18 months. Cary Kast, Shirley Cunningham and Debbie Scott are all accredited mentors and will work together to mentor both groups. Scholarships are available. For more information about EfM please contact Debbie Scott, call the church office at 979-6354, extension 20, or speak to one of the dozens of EfM students and graduates here at St. Paul’s.
