Rite 13 and SPISH

The 2010-2011 school year was our sixth year using the Rite 13 program. Currently our Rite 13 class includes our 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The curriculum involves lessons centering around self, society, sexuality and spirituality. The premise of the Rite 13 curriculum is that manhood and womanhood are gifts from God but that adulthood is earned. Our goal is to provide for them a safe, caring community of support as we celebrate and participate in their journey.

Our St. Paul’s Ivy Senior High students (SPISH) meet Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to further their understanding of God, his teachings and their own role within the church with discussion, fun, fellowship and service. The SPISH curriculum draws on Journey to Adulthood program resources.  SPISH also meets regularly on Sunday evenings for movies and discussion, preparing and sharing meals, games and more. In addition, they enjoy an annual trip to New York City (Nightwatch), the Senior High Weekend at Shrine Mont, bowling, tubing at Wintergreen, sponsoring the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and a Festival of Lights service.
