Outreach is serving more and more families in our area.  Due to the increased need for food and the space to store it, we are unable to accept any unsolicited household items or clothing at this time.  May we suggest you contact Goodwill, the Salvation Army, the Green Olive Tree in Crozet or LOVE, INC.

This year will mark the twelfth year of our St. Paul’s Scholarship program—a program conceived to make a post-secondary education a reality for students in need. Our mission is aimed at seniors attending WAHS who are committed to furthering their education and have expressed clear goals regarding their future, have made positive contributions to their school and/or community, but are limited in their resources.

Since 1998, we have served 25 graduates who have attended PVCC or a local vocational school. To most, we have awarded full scholarships including tuition, fees and textbooks. For some, we meet their specific needs, for instance, a textbook allowance, a laptop computer or a printer. Roger Gibson, of Ivy Exxon, has generously helped us award gasoline allowances for some, and we have even donated used cars. Two of the key strengths of our program are (1) we serve those who might not be given other opportunities and (2) we remain flexible enough to be able to customize the aid we offer.

Some of our students have been the first in their families to attend college. Many have gone on to 4-year programs at UVA and elsewhere, have continued in programs such as nursing, teaching, etc. or have earned vocational certificates.

Approximate costs for a full, two-year scholarship award for one student at PVCC have increased to $8500. Currently we are continuing to support eight students. Our recent December PVCC graduate is continuing her studies to become a teacher at Old Dominion University. This year our budget will not allow us to award any new, full scholarships although we will be able to offer textbook assistance to one or more qualified students.
