Annual Parish Retreat at Shrine Mont

Our most popular retreat is a fun-filled family June weekend at Shrine Mont. Shrine Mont is the Episcopal Church retreat in Orkney Springs, Virginia and includes the Virginia House. This lodge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was purchased by Shrine Mont in 1979. With its white clapboard structure and tall, green-shuttered windows, the Virginia House is four stories high. The 96,000 square-foot structure was built in 1873 and restored in 1987. This is a beautiful, peaceful place to recharge with your family and fellow parishioners. There are many family-oriented activities available, casual meals, entertainment provided by talented church members as well as opportunity for worship, all in a very beautiful setting.

Join fellow parishioners from June 14 to 16, 2013 at Shrine Mont in glorious Orkney Springs, just an hour and a half from Ivy. Shrine Mont is indeed “a place apart” and literally offers something for everyone. The weekend begins Friday evening with a cookout followed by fellowship around a campfire. Adults may attend a stimulating educational program on Saturday while the children enjoy supervised play outdoors. If you prefer, just sit on the porch and read, or go fishing and later join the group for a hike; you may take part in as many or as few of the program activities as you like. The St. Paul’s group stays in the coveted cottages, nestled on the hillside near the beautiful Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration. Most rooms have private baths and we take care to place singles, couples and families in comfortable and suitable surroundings. The weekend includes plenty of fellowship and popular home cooked meals served family-style. Registration forms will be available in the rear of the church on May 5 or you can register on our website. To learn more about Shrine Mont, visit www.shrinemont.com or send email Mary Welby von Thelen.
