Lenten Devotional: Sunday, March 10

Psalm 63:1-8(9-11)Psalm 98Psalm 103Deuteronomy 8:1-10
1 Corinthians 1:17-31
Mark 2:18-22

“So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands
and call on your name.”
Psalm 63:4

I have heard all my life that when I confront a difficult problem, I should just “put it in the Lord’s hands.” That certainly is not always the easiest thing to do, especially since we live in a world that is based on the assumption that any and all problems can be solved if we just work hard enough. In this Psalm, David is realizing that what truly sustains life is God’s presence and power. In His steadfast love, we can find security amid persecution and threats in life: “So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” Psalm 63:2-3

Dear Lord, may we use this Lenten season to transform our lives to accept your steadfast love and strength in each of us. Amen.
