New Rector Named!
I am pleased to announce that The Reverend Justin McIntosh has accepted our call to become the next Rector of St. Paul’s, Ivy. Upon recommendation of the Search Committee, the Vestry met with Justin+ and shortly thereafter voted unanimously to issue a call to this gifted priest. He comes with the highest recommendations and a proven track record in transformational pastoral leadership. He is inspiring, articulate, mature, thoughtful, an empathetic listener and comfortable in his skin. We feel he will connect easily and well with people of all ages and all walks of life.
Justin+ is currently the Rector of historic Leeds Parish, in Markham, VA where he has served since 2011. Previously, he was the Associate Rector of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in McLean, VA from 2009-2011. His ministry there focused on strengthening programs for children, youth, and young adults.
A respected leader in the Diocese of Virginia, Justin+ represented our diocese as an elected Deputy to the 2018 General Convention of the Episcopal Church. He is a Field Education Supervisor for the Virginia Theological Seminary and has provided supervision for three interns in the Young Priests Initiative program.
A native Virginian, Justin+ grew up in McLean. He graduated summa cum laude from the College of William and Mary, where he majored in Religious Studies and History. He received the Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School, along with a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School. He was ordained to the Diaconate in 2009 and to the Priesthood in 2010.
Justin+ is married to Elena McIntosh who is also from the Old Dominion. She grew up in Vienna and after graduation from the College of William and Mary, she served for two years as a Teach for America teacher in New York City. Until recently, she was an ESOL teacher in Fairfax County. Currently, Elena is a stay-at-home mom, looking after their three small children, Joelle (6), Gabriel (5), and John Pascal (2).
Justin’s first Sunday with us will be October 28th. I know that you will join me in warmly welcoming Justin+ and his wonderful family into the life and spirit of St. Paul’s, Ivy. What an exciting new beginning for all of us!
