Christmas Basket Project
St. Paul’s, Ivy annually provides food supplies for Christmas dinner and gifts for our regular Outreach clients and a large number of other needy area families. Many elderly shut-ins are referred by JABA for this project. We work closely with a Greenwood group, traditionally served at Christmas by this parish as well as a large number of call-ins.
For the 2007 holiday, St. Paul’s gave a merry Christmas to more than 90 families in need. Volunteers chose names of children for whom to buy toys, which were then wrapped by our youth. The Youth Choir, with the help of donations of small items from parishioners, filled stockings for all of the younger children served by this effort. Food boxes were picked up and delivered to the elderly by our volunteers. Boxes and gifts were also picked up at St. Paul’s by eager families. Refreshments, provided by other volunteers for workers and families, made the day especially festive.
You Can Help
In November, requests for volunteers for this project will be published in the newsletter, bulletin and on this website. Please sign up to help! Names of those in need will be available in the Parish Hall at the beginning of Advent, as will information on ways to give your time to this wonderful annual event.
