Crop Walk and “Souper Bowl”

The youth of St. Paul’s, Ivy participate in several activities to aid the community as part of their Christian Education classes. Please support their efforts!

Each October, the Charlottesville-Albemarle CROP WALK raises money for hunger and disaster relief. The  Rite 13 class (grades 7-8) and SPISH  (grades 9-12) of St. Paul’s, Ivy participate in this effort by asking for sponsors and walking to raise funds. CROP is the international hunger and relief agency for Church World Service. For over 50 years Church World Service has been helping hungry people become more self-reliant and has provided assistance after disasters have struck.

In the last thirty-six years the Charlottesville-Albemarle CROP WALK has supported the hunger and refugee relief work of Church World Service and our community Meals on Wheels and the Emergency Food Bank programs

Please support the youth of St. Paul’s, Ivy as they raise money and awareness for the hungry in central Virginia and around the nation. Please sign up as a sponsor or consider walking the route yourself. If you would like additional information, contact the church office, or the local CROP WALK organization.

Souper Bowl Sunday 4.jpg

Super Bowl Sunday is also “SOUPER BOWL” Sunday at St. Paul’s, Ivy. On that day the Rite 13 class collects cash and checks to help those in our area.

In 2010, our youth collected money that was donated to Episcopal Relief and Development for Haitian earthquake relief.  In previous years, the youth of St. Paul’s have donated the funds to the Quality Community Council’s Urban Farm Project in Charlottesville and Heifer, International and our own Outreach fund. Collected funds have been used to purchase first aid kits and flashlights/batteries (after a hurricane in Albemarle we found that our Outreach families had almost nothing for any emergency situations). Money has also been donated to the Thomas Jefferson Area Food Bank.
