Easter and Thanksgiving Baskets

Our Outreach Monthly Food Pantry is an ongoing monthly effort to help and support approximately 25 families from the Western Albemarle area. In addition to food, health, cleaning and household supplies, our Christian Education classes provide a little happiness during the holidays.

For Easter, all the young children in our Outreach families are given Easter baskets. St. Paul’s, Ivy children decorate the baskets, collect items to fill them and distribute them to families to help spread some Easter joy. At Thanksgiving, each of our Outreach families, as well as others in need in the Western Albemarle area, are given food supplies for Thanksgiving dinner. St. Paul’s, Ivy children decorate shopping bags to be filled by parishioners with all the makings of a Thanksgiving feast. Outreach funds provide the turkeys, with the help of the Thomas Jefferson Area Food Bank.

You Can Help

For Easter, consider donating small toys, simple books and individually wrapped Easter candy for our Easter baskets.

In November, parishioners are asked to take a bag to fill with food for a Thanksgiving dinner for a local family in need. If you are interested in providing help with Thanksgiving food in the wider community, the Salvation Army serves Thanksgiving Dinner to many that cannot provide for themselves.

Watch this website, the newsletter and the Sunday bulletin for announcements about these Easter and Thanksgiving projects.
