Habitat for Humanity Houses
St. Paul’s Ivy, as part of Region XV, will begin building a quadruplex (four row houses) in the Paton Street area of downtown Charlottesville. This is the start of our fifth Habitat project!
Kick-off for the mini-blitz will be 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 10th. We will be running work in three 3-hour shifts in an effort to organize things. Those shifts are 9-12, 1-4, 4-7. There is a 1 hour break for lunch. We will repeat the work shifted schedule on Sunday the 11th, Saturday the 17th & Sunday the 18th.
All skills are needed. Crew leaders [Pro Builders] should contact Audry Storm at astorm@cvillehabitat.org
Construction volunteers [semi-skilled] are being organized by Ryan at volunteer@cvillehabitat.org.
Non Construction volunteers [lunch, traffic control, sign-in, shuttle bus, etc] should contact Katie at kkellett@cvillehabitat.org.
St. Paul’s, Ivy took a leading role in building our fourth Habitat House with Region XV of the Diocese of Virginia. We began work on August 2, 2008, with a short blessing ceremony. Work days were filled by our parishioners, Region XV and our building partner. The house, which is a duplex, was built on Paton Street for the Hassan and Khawa families and was completed in 2009. Construction of our third Habitat for Humanity home was completed in November 2007. The house, a duplex on Valley Road Extended, in the city, was dedicated in a moving ceremony on December 1 of that year. Click here to view a slideshow of that project.
Habitat for Humanity is always looking for a few good volunteers! Contact the local office for a list of current worksites.
