Outreach Coordination Committee

The Outreach Coordination Committee’s purposes and responsibilities are:

  • To continually evaluate and improve our outreach activities
  • To review programmatic requests to assure that they are consistent with our vision and goals
  • To coordinate our outreach work with that of our other church programs and committees
  • To explore how, over time, our outreach program can be expanded through identification of needs in our community that our parish can fulfill
  • To expand our pool of outreach workers by identifying additional parishioners who would volunteer to participate in one or more outreach programs

The OCC reports its activities, observations, and recommendations to the Vestry from time to time as appropriate. The OCC’s first report was delivered to the Vestry on May 12, 2009, and made these recommendation:

  • We should expand our efforts to acquaint our parishioners with our on-going outreach activities
  • We identified our scholarship program as being a clear number one priority because it helps students break the cycle of poverty and dependency by enabling them to obtain critical life and employment skills.
  • For each of our outreach programs, we made a recommendation as to its priority, funding level, and source of funding for 2009The OCC will develop a standardized form to be used by all entities that request assistance from SPI

Having made our recommendations for the current year, the OCC will next turn its efforts toward the development of a sustainable vision for extant, expanded, and new outreach activities.
