Rector

The Rev. Eric J. Liles is originally from California and grew up involved in the Episcopal Church of his home town. Eric later attended high school in Sugar Land, TX, earned a BA in Biology from Texas A&M University and enjoyed his first vocation as a full-time youth minister. Before accepting the call to St. Paul’s, Ivy, Eric served two parishes in Alabama.

Eric received his theological training at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, where he met his wife Allison, who is also an Episcopal priest. Eric and Allison are blessed with a four year old son, a nearly two year old daughter, and their trusty dog. In his free time Eric enjoys cycling around Albemarle County, playing guitar, reading, and spending time with his family.

Associate Rector

The Rev. Sarah Kinney Gaventa was born in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were Department of Defense Dependent School (DoDDS) teachers and moved to Germany when Sarah was an infant. She grew up going to American DoDDS schools in Germany and returned to the United States to attend the University of Richmond. She worked for The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy for three years and then attended Virginia Theological Seminary, where she received her M.Div. Sarah’s first call was as Assistant Rector at Emmanuel Church in Greenwood, Virginia, right up the road from St. Paul’s. She loved her time there and is particularly grateful to that congregation for introducing her to her husband, Matthew! Matthew and Sarah were married in 2007 and welcomed Charlie, their son, in 2011. Sarah has most recently been the Assistant Rector at Trinity Church in Princeton, NJ, where Matthew received his M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary. Mary M. Lane is a native of Albemarle County, living in Earlysville. After attending the University of the Cumberlands and then moving seven times in eleven years, Mary was happy to return home to Virginia. For the past eight years, she has been the office manager for the University of Virginia Investment Management Company. She is a member of UVA’s Community Emergency Response Team, certified in First Aid/CPR/AED. Mary has a daughter, Jennifer.

Director of Children and Youth Formation

Audi Barlow has been involved with the children and youth programs at St. Paul’s, Ivy since first attending in September 2003. She came on staff in May 2009. She is married to George ‘Cricket’ Barlow and they have three teenage daughters, Sarah, Kate and Emily. A graduate of Mary Baldwin College who’s first career of 15 years was in undergraduate college admissions, she also taught preschool for three years and has dabbled in retail. A life-long Episcopalian, Audi considers it a blessing to combine her faith with her interest in children and youth.

Director of Spirituality and Missions

Debbie Scott, our Director of Spirituality and Missions, works with spiritual growth, EfM, our mission efforts and other activities to promote the spiritual development of all members of St. Paul’s, Ivy. She and her husband David and their two children, Justin and Sarah, came to St. Paul’s, Ivy in July 1993. Debbie is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and earned a M.S. in English education from Old Dominion University. She is an EfM mentor and serves as a Diocesan Spiritual Discernment Facilitator.
