Lenten Devotion: Monday, March 2
Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:31
Whom among us doesn’t get carried away and boast? Whom among us doesn’t believe themselves to be wise?
Paul asks questions about a world with many similarities to the one we live in today. He asks the reader to identify those who are wise, the scribes and the debaters. What are their signs? How do we know them? Surely, they are wise!
God decided to save those who believe. It is normal to ask for proof but through the wisdom of God those who are wise believe Christ crucified. The source of our lives comes through Christ, who is the wisdom of God.
Until we proclaim Christ crucified we cannot know wisdom. Until we know wisdom we cannot truly boast. “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Dear Heavenly and Divine Creator, source of wisdom and love,
Let us be humble and acknowledge that our wisdom and happiness come only through you. You are the source of our lives through Christ. We worship you and thank you.
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen.
