Choirs and Ensembles
Wednesdays | 4:00pm, Choir Room
Children age 5 through 4th grade are invited to be a part of the St. Paul’s, Ivy Children’s Choir, which meets on Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm in the Choir Room. These young choristers provide an Offertory Anthem once a month at the 10:30am Children’s Service, and participate in other special projects throughout the church year, including Easter, Christmas Eve, and All Saints’ Day. Children’s Choristers are exposed to music reading, notation, rhythm, and collaborative performance. Special focus is given to helping children discover their own voices through anthem learning and memorization of rich texts.
1st and 3rd Sundays | 12:00pm, Choir Room
This spring, upper elementary through high school students are invited to attend Junior Choir rehearsals on every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 12:00pm in the Choir Room. Our focus this semester will be John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, which we will perform jointly with Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, VA (May 17), and St. Paul’s Memorial in Charlottesville (May 21). Younger elementary choristers who are interested in this project may contact Director of Children’s Choirs, Dr. Elizabeth Joyner (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information on joining Junior Choir rehearsals on 1st and 3rd Sundays.
