The Chorister Program at St. Paul’s Ivy | Come Sing With Us!
The Children’s and Youth Choirs at St. Paul’s have started rehearsals! The Children’s Choir is comprised of Cherubs (age 4 through 1st grade) and Juniors (2nd-5th grade). First graders who have passed their RSCM White Test may attend full Children’s rehearsals, as well as special intensive sessions for Juniors, held twice a semester. A sample White Test may be viewed here. The Youth Choir invites choristers from 5th through 12th grade; fifth graders are welcome to join either choir. Wednesday rehearsals are as follows:
Children’s Choir | 4:00-5:15pm (with Cherubs dismissed at 4:30)
Pizza & Potluck Choir Fellowship Dinner | 5:15-6:30
Youth Choir | 6:30-7:30
The Children’s Choir at St. Paul’s focuses on an introduction to unison anthems, fundamentals of vocal production, and a major emphasis on text and liturgical poetry. The Children’s Choir sings monthly at the 10:30am service. The new Youth Choir at St. Paul’s, Ivy invites singers from 5th through 12th grade for weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm. The Youth Choir will focus on more advanced vocal technique and complex anthem learning in multi-part harmony. Vocal intensives for high school singers will also be offered throughout the semester. The Youth Choir will collaborate with both the Children’s and Adult Choir, presenting anthems every few weeks at the 10:30am service. If you are interested in joining either the Children’s or the Youth Choir, please contact the Director of Children’s and Youth Choirs, Dr. Elizabeth Joyner.
The Adult Choir begins rehearsals on Wednesday, September 4. Those interested in joining the Parish Choir may contact Director of Music, Daniel Brinson.
