Announcing: Virtual Music Camp!
Three-Week Virtual Camp for Children & Youth
Weekly Activities and Music Worksheets
Zoom Sessions on Friday Mornings at 10:30am

Looking for one last bit of virtual enrichment for children and youth before the start of school? Children and Youth of St. Paul’s, K-12, are invited to attend Virtual Music Camp sessions during the month of August, led by the Director of Children’s and Youth Music, Dr. Elizabeth Joyner. With a format similar to that of Virtual VBS, families will receive packets of activities on three Mondays in August: August 3, 17, and 24. Participants are invited to complete what they like, then join Dr. Joyner on Zoom on three Friday mornings in August: August 7, 21, and 28.

Week 1, August 3-9
Listening

Listening to music doesn’t just happen! It is a skill that we practice and nurture over the course of many years. Children who intentionally listen to music experience greater attention span, enhanced language skills, and increased social development.

Week 2, August 17-21
Instruments

This fun week will be focused on an obscure sub-field of music called organology. Organologists study instruments from all around the world and from all kinds of cultures.

Week 3, August 24-28
Composition

In the final week of Music Camp, children of all ages will be introduced to composition. At the end of this week, we will share our experiences and enjoy a mini-listening session featuring some of our creations.

ALL children and youth are invited to participate both in the virtual learning activities and/or Friday Zoom sessions, and parents of younger children are especially invited to attend themselves! Campers are invited to participate as much or as little as they wish, and Zoom sessions are not required. You do not have to be registered for church choir, or even interested in church choir, to participate.
