SPIVY Kids (Pre-K thru 5th grade)
Fall Programming to begin Sunday, September 20
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we’re offering virtual formation throughout the fall. We’re excited to be able to provide Godly Play lessons recorded by our own GP teachers that will be shared with our youngest SPIVY kids, and we’re introducing a new formation experience through a curriculum called Building Faith Brick by Brick for kids in grades 3 – 5. On Sunday mornings at 9:30 we invite all children thru 5th grade to join us for a 20-25 minute session on ZOOM. Read below for more details on these virtual offerings.Godly Play for Pre-K thru 2nd grade
Each week a Godly Play lesson, recorded by our very own GP teachers, will be emailed on Fridays. Parents are encouraged to let their children watch it in advance of Sunday morning’s ZOOM gathering. On Sundays at 9:30, we will hold space to create community and offer fellowship. After a brief welcome and opening prayer with children of all ages, the pre-K thru 2nd grade children will be organized into their own breakout classroom. They will meet with a GP teacher who will share the recorded Bible story and allow for some “wonder” questions and responses. Then all ages will come together again to close with a song and a prayer.
Allowing for an imaginative way to explore the Bible with children and offer less virtual formation, we’re introducing a fresh and practical approach to faith formation at home. Through select stories that include action, adventure, battles, drama, wonder, mystery and/or suspense children will build upon their biblical literacy. Each week a simple Bible lesson will be emailed to children. The lessons are quite basic and will include wonder questions as well as “blue print” suggestions for children to re-create the Bible Story using “bricks” (Legos, Duplos, or Playmobil)
A copy of the children’s Bible we will be using will be made available for self pick-up at the church along with some Lego’s for those who may not already have a ready supply.
Each Sunday at 9:30, we will hold space to create community and offer fellowship. After a brief welcome and opening prayer with children of all ages, the 3 – 5 grade children will be organized into their own breakout classroom. There they will be able to share their creations and to discuss the story to deepen the learning experience.
Children and Youth Registration 2020-2021
By completing this form each year you’re helping us to maintain records of your children’s ages, grade levels and where they attend school. Collecting this information allows us to communicate all sorts of age appropriate information as necessary throughout the program year. Thank you for helping us!
