This week, the Diocese of Virginia issued new restrictions to parishes participating in drive-in worship. In accordance with these new rules, we will be suspending our practice of offering single-element Communion, but rather returning to the service of Spiritual Communion similar to those we offered virtually in the summer months. Spiritual Communion is an old and useful practice commonly used in time of war or pandemic, and we are grateful for the ability to receive Christ’s body spiritually while we await the return of physical Communion. For more information on Spiritual Communion, and its function in the church, we refer you to a Weekly Vine from June 2020 detailing the use and practice of Spiritual Communion.
