Whether you grew up singing in church or school, or are completely new to music, or have simply taken some time off in your singing life, the music program at St. Paul’s needs your voice! In this season of returning to worship and renewal of our parish life, music will play a crucial part in bringing our church community back together.
The Parish Choir is comprised of young adult and mature voices of all ages, and rehearses on Wednesdays at 7:30pm during the program year. The Parish Choir supplies music for 10:30 Sunday services, and this year will launch an Evensong series, held quartlerly on months with 5th Sundays. We are in particular need of bass and tenor voices. Vaccination against COVID-19 is required to participate in the Parish Choir. For more information, contact our Directors of Music, Elizabeth Joyner (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Daniel Brinson (email@example.com). The Parish Choir begins fall rehearsals on Wednesday, August 18.
The St. Paul’s Youth Choir is seeking young voices in 6th-12th grade. This fall, Youth Choir will meet every other week on Sunday afternoons during Coffee Hour (12:00-12:45pm). Youth voices will learn principles of choral singing in the context of worship, and will join the Parish Choir on Sunday mornings a few times a year. Singers 12 and over are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Singers in the 4th and 5th grades are invited to attend Youth Choir rehearsals in addition to Children’s Choir. Masks and social distancing will be required at these rehearsals. Youth Choir rehearsals begin Sunday, September 26.
The St. Paul’s Children’s Choir looks forward to welcoming back children age 5 through 5th grade. This fall, the Children’s Choir will meet every other week on Sunday afternoons during Coffee Hour (12:00-12:45pm). Children will learn principles of music and rhythm, build collaborative music-making skills, and learn entry-level anthems for singing in the 10:30 Eucharist service a few times a year. The Children’s Choir will meet in the Courtyard, weather permitting, and sing with masks and social distancing. Children’s Choir rehearsals begin Sunday, September 19.
