The Rev. Deacon William Joyner, Retired Archdeacon of the Diocese of North Carolina

The Rev. Deacon William Joyner and his wife Mary Brenda moved back to Virginia in April 2019 after 20 years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and 30 years in Boston and New York. He was ordained deacon in New York in 1992 and worked in five congregations there and in North Carolina. In 2006, Bishop Michael Curry appointed him Archdeacon of the Diocese of North Carolina, and he served in that capacity for twelve years. Bill worked for 40 years for IBM and related companies doing research in computer chip design and technology. He grew up in Luray, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
