The Rev. George Morris
A native of Philadelphia, the Rev. George Morris attended Emory and Henry College, where he was an honor student and outstanding basketball player, as well as the Richmond Virginia Seminary. After his ordination as a Baptist minister, Rev. Morris served as pastor of churches in Mathews and Middlesex Counties. He is the author of Work Ethics Trianing: A Youth Empowerment and Leadership Manual, and he speaks across the United States at colleges, schools, and churches.
Rev. Morris currently serves as Chaplain to the UVa men’s basketball and football teams, and was with the team throughout the 2017-2018 season, which culminated in their historic loss to UMBC in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Rev. Morris will talk about this loss, how the coaches and their team embraced that disappointment to win the 2019 NCAA title, and what role faith played in that journey.
