Music is an integral part of our worship at St. Paul’s Ivy. We strive for a musical life in which all can participate fully, that draws deeply from its roots and that branches out to “sing a new song.” Here are ways you can encounter God through beautiful music at St. Paul’s, Ivy:
Rite I Holy Eucharist with Instrumental Music | Sundays, 8:15 a.m.
This service features music from our Schoenstein pipe organ (2005), piano, and other instruments on occasion.
Rite II Holy Eucharist with Choirs and Hymns | Sundays, 10:30 a.m.
In addition to music from our organ and piano, our 10:30 service also features anthems and psalms from our Parish Choir, congregational hymns from the Anglican musical tradition and beyond, as well as monthly offerings from our Children’s Choir.
Choral Evensong | 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month*, 5:30 p.m
This jewel of the Anglican tradition is led by the professional St. Paul’s Schola Cantorum (and by the Parish Choir on special occasions and on fifth Sundays) and is a primarily sung service, allowing the congregation to let the music wash over them as the choir sings settings of canticles, psalms, and anthems for the evening. Well under an hour long and with no Eucharist, this is an ideal liturgy for seasoned churchgoers and newcomers alike. A reception follows each evensong in Neve Hall. (*Please note, this service runs during our program year only.)
Contemplative Evening Prayer with Celtic-style Music | 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month*, 5:30 p.m.
Come and prepare yourself in scripture and contemplation for the week ahead with our clergy and our friends The Ivy Consort, a local Celtic music trio. (*Please note, this service runs during our program year only.)
Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayers and Classical Guitar | Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.
This meditative service not only offers the opportunity to ask for healing prayers for yourself and your loved ones, but also features stunningly beautiful classical guitar music played by our very own Fr. Rick Lord.
