Caring for one another in times of need is the responsibility of all Christians, and at St. Paul’s Ivy, we are fortunate to have a robust team of clergy and lay leaders to provide this care for each other. Headed up by our Assistant to the Rector for Pastoral Care, the Rev. Rick Lord, our Pastoral Care ministry usually offers visits to homes and hospitals of parishioners who are ill, dying, or have other care needs. During this time of separation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these visits have been restricted. However, some of our clergy are still able to visit the dying in certain circumstances. If you or someone you know is in need of urgent pastoral care, please contact the church office or email Father Justin, Father Rick, or Mother Amanda directly.
Phone Call Ministry
This ministry helps us stay connected to one another while we are physically separated from our church community. Led by Deacon Bill Joyner and numerous parish volunteers, these phone calls from one parishioner to another are designed to check in and see how things are going, find out if there are any needs or ways the parish can be of help to the parishioners, and to pass along any urgent pastoral care issues to our clergy. If you’d like to volunteer for this important ministry, please contact Mother Amanda or the church office at 434-979-6354 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parish Prayer List
One of the most meaningful ways we care for one another is through our prayer of intercession and petition. We pray for those on our parish prayer list by name, in each Sunday service and twice a day in our weekday Morning Prayer and Compline services on Zoom. If you or someone you know would like to be added to the parish prayer list, please email the church office at email@example.com.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Our parish Knit and Stitch team creates beautiful hand-made shawls which are blessed and delivered to people around the parish who might be in need of a little extra comfort and prayer. To join this ministry, please contact Debbie Scott.
Greeting Card Ministry
This ministry is offered as another way for our parish volunteers to send a card or note by mail to someone who might like to know their church is thinking about them. If you know someone who could use a card, would like to volunteer to help write and send these cards and notes, or would like more information on this ministry, please contact Mother Amanda.
