The St. Paul’s, Ivy Concert Series was founded in 2025 under the leadership of Artistic Director Gabriel Rhys Simerson and aims to make a high-quality, diverse selection of the arts accessible to anyone who finds us. Our concerts are open to all and free of charge, and include a post-concert reception with food, beverages, and the company of the artists and neighbors who seek the same shared experience of beauty. We plan to offer three or four concerts per year, between September and May.

The series is funded solely by ongoing private donations and runs independently from the church’s operating budget. Your contributions are always welcome; please visit our Give webpage to donate to the Music Concert Series Fund.

Our Upcoming Season

September 27, 2025 | Patrick Lundy and the Ministers of Music

Our series premiere features this dynamic, visceral gospel choir drawing together devoted and soulful singers from across the Washington area. PL&MOM have been featured on PBS’s “A Capitol Fourth,” the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s investiture, and they’re sure to blow the roof off of St. Paul’s!

To learn more about The Ministers of Music and Dr. Patrick Lundy, please visit their Facebook page. Watch some of their performances on their YouTube channel.

January 26, 2026 | Fuego del Sur

Beloved St. Paul’s violinist Justin Esposito teams up with guitarist Peter Richardson and accordion player Matty Metcalfe to form Fuego del Sur, a passionate and virtuosic tango trio that brings fiery precision, emotional depth, and spontaneous interplay to every performance. Experience them in the intimate nave of St. Paul’s and taste a new flavor of trio!

May 15, 2026 | Organ and Friends

Artistic Director and Director of Music Ministries Gabriel Rhys Simerson embarks on a mission to pair our Schoenstein organ with as many instrumentalists as he can in one evening! Guest artists will include Alexander Johnson (Christ Church, Charlottesville), Deke Polifka (St. Paul’s Memorial Church, Charlottesville), Fr. Rick Lord (St. Paul’s, Ivy) and Justin Esposito (the Ivy Consort), collaborating on the harpsichord, violin, classical guitar, and piano. You’ve never heard the organ like this before!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to register or pay admission?

No! All concerts are free and open to all. If a concert is expected to reach building capacity, there may be registration requirements, which will be communicated in advance.

Is it all church and organ music?

No! While organ and choral music will appear in some concerts, our series also includes various types of other music, from gospel to chamber music.

Is the building accessible for people with disabilities?

Yes; the main sanctuary doors, which are close to handicapped parking, are on the same level as the church, and reception and restroom facilities are accessible on one level via the outside sidewalk through the courtyard.

Is there parking?

Yes! There is a large parking lot on campus, at no charge.

I'm unable to give any money; am I still welcome?

Absolutely! Our goal is to make sure anyone who wants to hear great music can do so.

I'm interested in exploring more music at St. Paul's. How do I do that?

What a wonderful question! Check out information about our music program, or send Gabriel Rhys Simerson, our Director of Music Ministries an email.
