How should we look at the things in our life? Should we regard them as entitlements, or as gifts? St. Paul, our patron saint, gives us the answer: “What do you have that you did not? And if you have received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift (1 Cor. 4:7)?” In truth, we own nothing in this life; we are only stewards of God’s possessions. As we sing on Sunday mornings, “praise God from whom all blessings flow.”

Each of us has been blessed in different ways, entrusted with resources for witnessing to God’s Kingdom of peace, joy, healing, and love in a world that is in desperate need of it. You have a critical role to play in this God-given mission.

Over the next few weeks, you are encouraged to prayerfully reflect on this question: What proportion of your income is God calling you to give towards the life-changing work of God at St. Paul’s, Ivy for 2022?
