Join us this year for the hopeful expectation of the season of Advent, which leads us to the joy of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. The word advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “the coming.” During the season of Advent, we watch and wait with hopeful expectation for the coming of Christ in two ways, both at Christmas and his coming at the end of time when all of creation is fully reconciled to God. The season is intended to be a period of reflection and preparation, which sets the tone for our worship services during this season. Once Christmas arrives, we shift into the Christmas season, which lasts for 12 days and begins on December 25. During this season, you’ll find joyful and exuberant worship at St. Paul’s, Ivy, as we celebrate God’s great love made manifest in the incarnation of Jesus Christ.
